Google is creating a whole new algorithm for generating search results... code name, Hummingbird. This isn't a tweak to what they've done before but a whole new set of code. The intent is to give searchers better and more relevant search results. Google wants to do a better job of matching quality content to search criteria. In general their current algorithm has just been "gamed" a bit too much.
What this may mean is that keyword density (writing lots of buzzwords) and irrelevant copy is going to have much less impact on rankings. For those who write conversationally, like this blogger, it should be a boon to rankings. For those search engine optimizing companies it will probably pose a major headache. If you use these companies then ask them what their Hummingbird plan is for your business. THE TRUTH IS, they should not have one yet since the exact details of how the algorithm works is a bit of a secret. If you do already have a ranking that you like for search terms, you may be impacted (negatively). Look for launch announcements and then review your rankings again.
Bottom line bloggers - keep it real with Hummingbird.
